Recovery from Environmental Damage
The earth is undergoing drastic changes. Many of these changes can be directly linked to human activity and the degradation of the earth’s natural resources. The earth is not able to produce resources fast enough to outpace the increasing strain of human industrialization. Destruction of these resources directly impacts all inhabitants on our planet.
Even though humans can be seen as a problem, we can also be the solution. We have already made momentous changes to our lifestyle to combat our predicament. We have enacted policy changes, developed more efficient ways to use the resources the earth has provided us with, and, most importantly, bound together to address this rising issue. However, is this enough to counteract the damage already done?
The earth is not a puzzle; it cannot be put together again without any wound. Our planet is fragile and must be addressed sooner rather than later to avoid further disturbance. We are already experiencing irreversible changes to biodiversity, such as species going extinct and entire ecosystems being devastated.
Recent media attention to the given issue has made our society more aware of how pertinent this matter is. We can observe our environmental impact just by watching the news, and, in most cases, actually being impaired directly by industrialization. This is best viewed in the air quality in cities or the lack of drinkable water and unacceptable living conditions in developing countries.
The environment is important to me because it is the home of every species. It is what keeps us alive and well. The future generations deserve to see the majesties that the earth has to offer.
